Breaking down myths and misconceptions around cancer and food.

There is a lot of hype and misinformation surrounding nutrition and cancer. And, it can be challenging to separate fact from fiction. I hope you will join me and Stephanie Hopkins, Registered Dietitian of The Gathering Place, as we discuss and dispel cancer nutrition myths! We will be hosting this webinar on Wednesday, June 16th from 7:30 – 9pm Eastern Time.

Help us spread the word about science based information about nutrition and cancer, because we all know there’s way too much misinformation out there!

During our Survivors Week celebration, I taught a “Comfort Foods” cooking class. In case you missed it, you can watch the recording here:

For the class, I made Cajun Oven-Fried Chicken, Carrot Mac and Cheese and Creamy Garlic Mashed Cauliflower, all healthy and delicious versions of some common comfort foods!

Find other recipes on the Comfort Foods Cooking Class page!

Also, don’t forget to register for the Eat the Rainbow challenge! This summer we will be adding some themes to the Eat the Rainbow zoom meetings (in season foods, and other special topics), and also including some recipe videos throughout the summer!

Register before June 28th! All graduates get a beautiful digital cookbook complete with all the recipes from the challenge!

By now, you have likely been told to “eat more fruits and vegetables” countless times by friends, doctors, dietitians, etc. But have they ever explained whyeating more fruits and vegetables is beneficial for a cancer survivor? What about howto add more fruits and vegetables into your diet? Lastly, with all of the conflicting nutrition information out there, how are you supposed to tell what is a myth versus what is a fact?

In this 12-week series, we will do all of that for you! We are going to:

  • Explain why fruits and vegetables are important for cancer survivors
  • Help you increase the amount of fruits and vegetables in your diet
  • Bust some common myths about fruits and vegetables

Find out more information or register HERE!

I’m working on some plans for the next 6-9 months and here are a few ideas I’m tossing around:

  • monthly cancer nutrition “meet ups” on zoom
  • breast cancer nutrition challenge for October
  • Eat the Rainbow “holiday edition”

I’d love to hear your thoughts on whether you would be interested in any of those and which ones! Just email me back and let me know.

Talk to you soon!
